Dragging up the Past | The Dog Walker | Blog Tour

Today I’m taking part in the blog tour for The Dog Walker from bestselling author Lesley Thomson.

The Dog Walker is the 5th book in the Detective’s Daughter series, following last year’s critically acclaimed The House with No Rooms.

The series has been beautifully redesigned and these gorgeous new covers will bring Lesley’s wonderful books to a whole new audience. – I can vouch that the new covers are absolutely gorgeous and will look really nice just casually sitting on your bookshelf!

January, 1987. In the depths of winter, only joggers and dog walkers brave the Thames towpath after dark. Until a young woman, Helen Honeysett, set off for a run from her riverside cottage and never came home. Her body has never been found.

Twenty-nine years later, Helen’s husband is still searching for answers. He’s asked Stella, the detective’s daughter, and Jack, a tube driver, to find out what happened all those years ago. But the five households on that desolate stretch of towpath refuse to give up their secrets. And as winter tightens its grip once more, Stella and Jack find themselves hunting for a killer whose trail has long gone cold…

The Author

Lesley Thomson grew up in west London. Her first novel, A Kind of Vanishing, won the People’s Book Prize in 2010. Her second novel, The Detective’s Daughter, was a #1 bestseller and sold over 500,000 copies.

So initially, when a rather large hardback book arrives on your door step, you have to take a step back. I was sat looking at it thinking ‘how the hell am I gonna read this in time?!’ – If nobody else does this with proofs, then I am utterly disappointed!

However, the book was really easy to get into, even if you’ve not read any of Lesley Thomson’s books before, you’re thrust into the world of Stella and cleaning.

Hear me out on this first. I love how Stella’s cleaning company and her ‘low-key’ detective agency, basically goes hand in hand. She cleans peoples homes and also cleans up the bad guys – see what I did there?

There’s lots of twists and turns in the story, as we hear the side of Stella, Jack and the, what some readers may come to realize, the killer, but oh were we wrong!

I highly enjoyed this book of Cat and Mouse and the updated cover is truly amazing! Seriously! It would look so pretty on your coffee table, just saying!

Would recommend this to lovers of crime and mystery and although this book is part of a series, you don’t necessarily have to read the rest before this one, so it’s worth a read!

Today is the last day for The Dog Walker blog tour, but be sure to check out other blog posts about this book and have a read yourself!
