Looking at my Goodreads, I’ve read nearly 100 books…
Let that just sink in for a moment.
I’ve read graphic novels, poetry, proofs, new releases, hardbacks, paperback, ebooks – pretty much a wide variety in both reading material and genres.
So now’s the time to pick my favourite 5, see below.
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton – released 8 February 2018
This mind-bender of a crime novel is fantastic! It’s both confusing, interesting and a fun read, all rolled into one!
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden – released 25 January 2018
This is the second book in the series and continues with Katherine Arden’s Trilogy, full of mystical creatures, magic and snow – lots and lots of snow!
Force of Nature by Jane Harper – released 8 February 2018 (I’ve also just finished Lost Man by Jane, which will be released next year!)
The second in the Faulks series, and another crime novel on my list, this is set in a all-consuming forest and is set out in 2 different timelines, answering the question: what really happened to Alice?
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert – released 30 January 2018
Fairy tales? Check. Creepy fairy tales? Check. A character that’s determined to find her mother, figure out her past and make it out of her story alive? Check.
The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman- released 15 January 2015
A older release, but a new read to me. Set in a library where the librarians travel across time and lands to find ‘special books’. Featuring; dragons, magic and books!
Some honourable mentions:
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – released 8 March 2018
Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls – released 1 February 2018
All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klethfoth – released 12 July 2018
As always, let me know in the comments below if you’ve ready any of these books and what you thought of them. Or let me know which books make your ‘best of 2018 read’.
